The Challenge
India’s public schools enroll 143 million students, including 15.44 million high schoolers (grades 9 to 12). Many of these students face financial hardship, limited resources, and systemic inequality. Only 28.4% of students pursue higher education, while the employability rate of graduates remains at 52.3%, and youth unemployment persists at 10%.
This persistent inequality stems from a lack of career guidance, life skills, and access to opportunities. These barriers hinder academic success, well-being, and decision-making, trapping many in cycles of generational poverty and stalling India’s efforts to build a skilled and thriving workforce.
Why This Approach Works
Integrating KCITE-SEL with career-focused guidance has the transformative power to break systemic barriers in education and employability. Research shows that SEL improves academic performance by 23%, reduces conduct issues by 9%, and enhances employability, with every $1 invested yielding up to $11 in returns.
